The Day Before launches Jfor PC, with PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions also in development. For players who are still skeptical about whether The Day Before is for them, Fntastic said that there will be a pre-release beta, so that's something to look forward to. Though the game does take obvious influences from hit survival games and zombie titles of recent years, including The Last of Us and The Division, it also seems eager to take the best elements from these titles to create something all its own.Īlthough the release date for the PC version of The Day Before has been announced, the same has not been said for console versions. Here, players will be able to trade resources, and the survivor colonies will also be a place for players to communicate with other users, talk to NPC inhabitants, and accept various tasks. When players are not undertaking the perilous task of gathering resources, they can relax in survivor colonies. In addition to human enemies, players will also have to contend against the zombie-like infected that crave flesh and will attack in hordes if players make too much noise. Guns will also have customization options, which should come in handy when players go out searching for supplies. Cars can be used to travel across the large map and take players from dense cities to the open countryside, but any vehicles found will need repairs if damaged. There are also detailed environments to explore and scavenge in, including a glitzy mall. If players cross paths with hostile survivors and manage to come out on top, they can loot their fallen foes for clothing and other resources. Released trailers show that The Day Before will have an intricate looting and inventory system. Fntastic apparently has very ambitious plans for the game and, as the co-founders said, the studio is "constantly improving the game, including graphics and animations." The developer states players will be able to travel across the map without encountering loading screens. It is understandable that the game will only be available on next-gen consoles considering the scope of what is being promised. A trailer released later revealed that the game will be available on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. In an interview with Gamingbolt in March, Fntastic co-founders Ed Gotovtsev and Aisen Gotovtsev said they would "not be able to port the game to your NES," but they were considering other console ports. The studio had initially planned to release the game on PC alone, but expressed interest in porting the game to consoles too. However, with the ongoing pandemic, it has been delayed to June 2022. The most recent video which showed off ray-tracing didn't show any gameplay footage, and fans appear to remain quite sceptical on whether The Day Before can deliver on its promisesĪ fan of MMOs? Check out our pick of the best MMORPG s and MMOs.The Day Before was initially set to launch in 2021. The scepticism on the other hand, is largely due to the fact that we haven't really seen all that much gameplay or had substantial information about the game, which has only intensified as we draw closer to the release date. The biggest sticking point was the website's description of part-time volunteers "ranging from translating to community moderating" who receive non-monetary rewards such as "participation certificates and free codes". Some controversy surfaced shortly after the news of a delay, when the studio appeared to be looking for "volunteers" to help with its upcoming projects (although it's clear as to whether this was related to The Day Before, specifically). With a growing sense of anticipation surrounding the MMO since its reveal in 2021, there has been some scepticism and controversy surfacing about The Day Before. Unfortunately, the reception to the gameplay reveal so far has been largely that of disappointment. We're then taken through empty city streets, with a few zombie encounters. The video begins with two player characters running through the street of an abandoned residential area, before looting from a house. In the lead up to the original launch date, we'd still not seen all that much of the game in action, especially since the move to Unreal Engine 5.īut after revealing that we could expect to see gameplay sometime in January prior to the news of the delay, Fntastic released 10 minutes of footage on February 2. The footage offers some insight into the inventory and how we'll be able to loot - which does bring to mind State of Decay in some respects. Ports to those consoles are possible, but don’t hold out hope for it coming to PS4 and/or Xbox One. The footage shows two players scavenging around for supplies in a gas station and taking out infected foes nearby with their guns. Unfortunately, The Day Before is currently only slated for a PC release. While we've gotten to see glimpses of the game in trailers, our first look at gameplay footage came in a video from IGN back in 2021.
